The introduction of new and emerging technologies in the construction sector is important for its advance towards a sustainable practice. Addressing these issues, the European Commission implemented a European Construction Technology Platform. The platform aims to raise the sector performance and competitiveness to a world-class level, by analyzing the major challenges that the sector faces in terms of society, sustainability and technological development.
The platform has indicated that advances in areas such nanotechnology, modeling, analytical techniques and other technologies have the potential of creating breakthroughs in the production, properties and use of building materials, and therefore they have the potential to support sustainable building. |
