The Øresund region

The Øresund region consists of the eastern islands of Denmark and the southern part of Sweden. The biggest cities are Copenhagen (DK) and Malmö (SE). Before 1658 the Swedish part of Øresund belonged to Denmark, and the region was a center for commerce and religion.

Since the year 2000, the two countries are tied together with the fixed link - the Øresund Bridge. From that point on, the region has been rejoined and is now one of the most dynamic Regions in Europe, and one that is developing rapidly.
